With the huge amount of stuff that exists in our kids lives, our houses and the planet, we’ve made a conscious and dedicated effort to be as sustainable and responsible as we can, both in the production of what we make, and how we package it.
It's a core value that has been at the heart of Odd Goose, before it even had its name!
Packaging
➼ Our postal envelopes are made from 100% recycled materials and padded with a honeycomb paper mesh. They’re fully recyclable and compostable.
➼ Our postal boxes are made from FSC approved materials and are fully recyclable and biodegradable.
➼ Our products were designed with their packaging in mind, so our things are designed to fit snugly in our chosen packaging without the need for lots of void filling.
➼ The filler paper we do use is 100% recycled unprinted newspaper which can be reused and recycled.
➼ For larger orders, we re-use boxes and packaging that we have received, where possible.
➼ We use paper packing tape which is certified recyclable. It's constructed in the UK using FSC certified Kraft paper and natural rubber adhesive from FSC certified forestry.
➼ Our product packaging is made of paper and can be recycled at home - including the glassine envelopes and paper dots & labels.
Manufacturing
➼ We make the vast majority of our Odd Goose products in our studio in small batches.
➼ We only ever choose our components from manufacturers who are able to provide us with full transparency about where the parts are made, how they’re made and what they’re made from.
➼ We prioritise family led businesses and manufacturers with a history in producing the very niche items we need (Specialists in elastic! Experts in eyelets! Glue making pros!)
➼ We work with suppliers as local as possible, nearly exclusively Britain and Europe, plus our HB pencils from the USA and colouring pencils from the People's Forestry project in Indonesia.
➼ All the paper we use is FSC certified, as are many of our wood-based items like our colouring pencils.
➼ We order in batches as much as possible to reduce deliveries
Printing
➼ We do our foil printing on a refurbished hot foiling press and set up our print runs using off-cuts as much as possible to reduce paper waste.
➼ We use foil that meets environmental standards and plan layouts to minimize waste.
➼ We keep our paper waste output to a minimum by offering off cuts for kids crafts.
